BUNKER HILL TOWN COUNCIL
RESOLUTION NO. 5 , 1998
SUPPORTING EMPOWERMENT ZONE DESIGNATION FOR
MIAMI COUNTY, INDIANA
WHEREAS, the Bunker Hill Town Council has learned of the effort to secure the designation of an Empowerment Zone from the United States Department of Agriculture for the majority of Miami County; and
WHEREAS, designation as an Empowerment Zone will create the opportunity for the citizens of Bunker Hill and Miami County to participate in programs to improve their economic well being and quality of life; and
WHEREAS, the intent of the Empowerment Zone project is to create the opportunity for citizens to be self sustaining and decrease reliance on government assistance and welfare; and
WHEREAS, numerous citizens of Bunker Hill have actively participated in the effort to achieve Empowerment Zone designation; and
WHEREAS, all citizens of Bunker Hill and Miami County will be afforded the opportunity, directly or indirectly, to participate in Empowerment Zone opportunities;
BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED that the Bunker Hill Town Council applauds all the efforts made by the citizens of Bunker Hill and Miami County, Indiana, to secure the Empowerment Zone Designation from the United States Department of Agriculture; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Bunker Hill Town Council supports the submission of the application for Empowerment Zone status by the Miami County Board of Commissioners.
