TOWN MARSHAL POLICE RESERVE PROGRAM

 

§ 32.01   ESTABLISHED.

The town hereby establishes a Town Marshal Police Reserve Program with the following procedures.

§ 32.02   APPOINTMENT.

(A)   Town Marshal Police Reserve officer(s) will be appointed by the Town Council from recommendations of the Town Marshal.

(B)   No person shall be appointed until an Indiana Law Enforcement Training Board (LETB) approved course is completed. (See I.C. 5-2-1-9(f).)

(C)   No person shall be appointed until a six month probationary period is served satisfactorily and is recommended for the appointment by the Town Marshal.

§ 32.03   STAFFING.

Town Marshal Police Reserves are limited to two active members at any time.

§ 32.04   IDENTIFICATION.

Any person(s) appointed under this subchapter shall be known as a Town Marshal Police Reserve(s).

§ 32.05   RESTRICTIONS TO APPOINTMENT.

No member of the Town Marshal Police Reserve may be a member of another duly sworn police agency.

§ 32.06   JURISDICTIONAL AUTHORITY.

A Town Marshal Police Reserve has all police powers after appointment but is limited to the corporate boundaries of the town enforcement area. A Town Marshal Police Reserve officer will not be granted police powers outside of the corporate limits of the town.

§ 32.07   COMPENSATION.

(A)   The Town Marshal Police Reserve officer(s) serve in an unpaid status.

(B)   As appropriations are made to the program, the Town Marshal Police Reserve officers may receive from the town:

(1)   Uniforms and a uniform allowance.

(2)   Compensation for time lost from other employment because of court appearances directly related to the Town Marshal Police Reserve activity only.
